TYPES OF FLOOR SYSTEMS

Epoxies: Today, “epoxy” is a term often used in referring to all resinous systems; however, not all floor systems are Epoxy.
Epoxies have a long track record for durability and chemical resistance. For improved chemical resistance, epoxy resins can be combined with urethane-based resins to provide a more UV stable and very durable finish.
Epoxy floors are still the primary systems for most applications.

Acrylics: These systems are basically like liquid “plexiglass” for your floor. Methyl methacrylates (MMA) have been used in the commercial field for nearly 100 years.
MMA flooring is a tough, chemical-resistant, and UV stable floor system. Northeast Industrial Floorings can provide a complete floor system with minimal downtime. Each application is completely cured in one hour. There is a downside however. MMA emits a distinct odor and special consideration has to be given to properly ventilate the workspace.
The time and place for these systems must be carefully considered.

Cementitious Urethanes: In the Food & Beverage industry, these are considered to be the Cadillac of floor systems. A unique hybrid of cement and urethane resins allows extreme thermal shock resistance, moisture resistance, and great density.
These products are able to tolerate high levels of moisture vapor transmissions. This eliminates the need for a topical moisture-mitigation system, reducing time and cost.
Cementitious Urethanes can be used in tandem with MMA’s and Epoxies combining the unique benefits of all three resins.
